VIVA Magenta! As we approach fall, leaves, grasses, and skies change from one end of the color spectrum to the other. The greens drip and fade into oranges, reds, yellows and browns until rejoining their ancestors in the dirt. One color that particularly stands out among the rest is a mysterious and rich color called Magenta.

Each year the color experts at Pantone USA choose a color of the year. This year, 2023, the chosen color is titled "Viva Magenta". To celebrate this color, its many hues, its emotive and evocative qualities, the artists at Sabine Street Studios were prompted to create works that use Magenta, or an interpretation thereof. 

As explained by Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of Pantone Color Institute, "... Viva Magenta descends from the red family, and is inspired by the red of cochineal, one of the most precious dyes belonging to the natural dye family as well as one of the strongest and brightest the world has known. Rooted in the primordial, Viva Magenta reconnects us to original matter. Invoking the forces of nature, Viva Magenta galvanizes our spirit, helping us to build our inner strength."
