THIN PLACES is a juried solo exhibit featuring the art of Joy Hilley. More than 35 original works of art will be on display. Most of the pieces will be in her signature chalk paint with gold metal leaf on gallery-wrapped canvas. Joy will talk briefly about the pieces, what inspired her to create them, and her firm belief that beauty will save the world (a phrase first penned by Fyodor Dostoevsky).
The majority of Joy’s visual art is abstract, which she says “sparks the viewer’s own imagination,
invites conversation, and embraces mystery.” Collectors often describe her work as “Rothko meets
Turner” for the way in which she infuses color fields with light. The Thin Places collection explores
sacred liminal spaces—places where the veil between heaven and earth seems thin.
Opening Reception: Friday, February 11, 2022, from 6:30–8:30 pm
