Street Encounters celebrates the art of street photography in the spirit of Vivian Maier, who captured the world around her like an unknown witness. The call for entry sought imagery that conveys everyday life and happenings. The resulting exhibition is a recognition that sometimes the most simple situations and moments can result in the most extraordinary, lasting images.
"The pursuit of photographs while roving and exploring requires patience, the astute ability to recognize potential, quick reaction time and intuitive skills to know what action will make the desired result under any condition with no time for indecision. Some choose to wait for the photograph in anticipation of what could unfold. Others shoot on the move. My advice is that if ever you see three tuba players walking down the road with their tubas, follow them. Something is bound to come of it. It is my opinion that every photograph in this exhibition shows great considerations made before hitting the shutter. And my bet is that every photographer did a photo dance after realizing they got the winning shot they were after."
