Stendhal or Pure Joy

Sawyer Yards presents Stendhal or Pure Joy, a solo exhibition of paintings by Silver street artist Rodrigo Aguilera. "Stendhal" refers to "Stendhal Syndrome", a psychosomatic, profound emotional and physical response to art objects, and works of great beauty.

Aguilera writes:  “When you see and approach one of my paintings, you are in front of an abstract design's pictorial qualities, including color harmonies and delicate brush strokes. Then, by zooming out or stepping back, you will see a realistic image that brings all of the parts and fragments together, usually in the form of a portrait. This is why I call my artistic vision 'Abstrealism'. Abstract and figurative principles follow nature in that the parts form a whole. My reorganization process affirms that everything in creation has a place and a purpose. My wish, is that you will perceive a sense of wholeness. My hope that this approach brings you joy and touches your soul."

The exhibition will be on view from June 26th, throughout July 8th, 2023 in the East Gallery of Silver street studios at Sawyer Yards. A reception for the artist, along with a presentation and book signing will occur on Saturday July 8 from 5 - 7 pm.
