Shirley Lavine: Life In Color

visit website

Sawyer Yards presents Life in Color, a quietly powerful showcase of paintings by artist Shirley Lavine. The exhibition is on view from April 1 - 30 in the Bay 300 Gallery of the the Silos at Sawyer Yards studio building. Join the artist for a public reception on April 5, from 4:00 - 7:00 pm.

Shirley Lavine’s paintings are characterized by her use of vibrant color and rich texture. Her work invites viewers to pause and rediscover the extraordinary in ordinary scenes, such as the way your dog's face lights up when you get the cheese, that nook in your house you forgot was special, or the quaint flower shop surviving on a loud New York City sidewalk.

Lavine expertly combines impressionist sensitivity with bold abstract expressionism, crafting paintings that feel both intimately familiar and dynamically fresh. Painting primarily in oils, she carefully studies life and photographs from her own travels, weaving light, shadow, and color into compositions that resonate deeply. Life in Color is an invitation to experience life's quiet yet profound beauty through Shirley Lavine's unique artistic lens.
