SHIFT

“A great thought begins by seeing something differently, with a shift of the mind's eye.”  Albert Einstein

In art and in life, visible or not, shifts are ever-present. The world within and around us evolves, impacting and transforming our beings and perspectives. Art is capable of not only illustrating such shifts but also causing shifts in us viewers, creating ripple effects that are difficult, if not impossible to trace. Those shifts may start with a glance at an artwork and unexpectedly amplify, resonate, echo, and transform through space and time.

The goals of this exhibition are to showcase the Sabine Street artists’ interpretations and expressions of these shifts that occur within a single artwork, through a series, or from one project to the next. This shift might also occur within the artist themselves, through a difference in theme, interest, approach, technique, media, etc.  By revealing and highlighting these transformations in the artists and their work, this exhibition promises to make a lasting and transformative impression on the audience.

This exhibition was curated by Marianna Leybovich, of MW Gallery, Studio 153 at Sabine Street Studios. Join the Sabine Street artists for a public reception and celebration on Thursday January 30, from 6-8 pm.
