Yvette Grutter: Red & White

visit website

Sawyer Yards presents Red & White, a solo exhibition of mixed-media works by Silos artist, Yvette Grutter.

Red & White is a collection of artworks intended to offer a balance between forces of strength and serenity through the contrast of vivid and earthy tones. The reds represent inner strength and the whites inner peace, both necessary to function harmoniously. Grutter's mixed media artworks combine painting with sand to create layers of colored textures, as well as imagery, sometimes including an element of nature, leaving space for endless narrative possibilities.

Yvette Grutter is a Mexican, American, and Swiss artist based in Houston. She works and teaches art classes at her studio (#315) at The Silos at Sawyer Yards. She earned her BFA from the University of San Antonio and has done extensive research into handmade paper techniques in many different countries over the last three decades. Travel and pursuing artist residencies abroad are a fundamental part of her artistic practice.

The exhibition is on view through October 30. Join the artist for a reception on Saturday, October 12, from 5-7pm.
