John Bishop: Earthen

An important part of any art practice is being grounded.  Earthen is a series of abstract, mixed media paintings that explore the colors, textures, and emotions evoked by a meditation on earth.  Whether by means of sweeping landscapes, or subtle details of the soil beneath one's feet, Earthen is an attempt to return the artist, and the viewer, to those most elemental experiences of home.

John Bishop is a painter and illustrator born and raised in Houston.  Though he spent 30 years working as a librarian in Texas, New Mexico, California, Romania, The Emirates, New Zealand, and Russia, John returned home in 2016 where he and his partner now work full-time on their creative business in fine art, publishing, video production and commercial photography. Their studio is #314 at Silver Street Studios, on the Sawyer Yards campus.
