My paintings and digital art parallel my personal involvement as both a driver and enthusiast of racing cars. I am interested in the similarities between creating art and automobile racing – particularly the connection between accidents versus control and organization opposed to chaos that characterizes both pursuits. I’m compelled to see how far I can push the boundaries of bright color, gestured brushstroke, movement, and texture to symbolize the speed, violence, noise, adrenalin rush, and the risk of racing.

Color and expressive brush stroke excite me – they are my strengths. My art technique, both in painting and digital media – is quick, controlled, and experimental – simulating driving a racecar on the edge. My art is characterized by the extreme freedom with which the line, the gesture, and the brushstroke become the venue for the action and expression of an energetic impulse.

As a result, a sort of explosive “battle for the picture” emerges. One in which the combatants are a gesture or sign on one side and color on the other, both bearers of emotive power.
