Shirley Lavine's art vibrantly blends impressionist influences with abstract expressionist flair and reflects her lifelong passion for vivid color and dynamic brushwork. Her paintings capture the moments of everyday beauty that inspire her—cozy nature spots, adorable house pets, and bustling city streets. Growing up in San Antonio, Shirley developed her foundational skills at the prestigious McNay Museum School, studying under renowned artists and muralists. Since moving to Houston in 1982, she has continuously expanded her artistry through workshops, conferences, and dedicated studio practice. Outside her studio in The Silos #305, Shirley enjoys quilting, needlepoint, reading, and quality time with her little dog.
