Alessandra Albin: Let Me Tell You A Story...

Alessandra Albin's artistic style draws inspiration from classical Greek and Roman culture as well as Mexican traditions. She works primarily in durable yet beautiful materials like bronze, terracotta, gesso, stone and light metals to craft sculptures, and also makes paintings with ink on wood. As an artist, Alessandra is deeply interested in the human form and how we move. Most of the works depict figures in a state of perpetual motion, designed to engage the viewer in charged static act of storytelling. The drawings and paintings are inspired by “Amates”, with the colors of the Mexican art, Russian Icons and Italian frescos. Alessandra’s paintings tell her story through a combination of images, memories, and experiences with a fantastic or magic realism.

At their heart, the artworks serve as a reflection of herself as she endeavors to envision what it might be like to inhabit the skin of each character she brings to life. Whether placed outdoors, indoors or hanging from ceilings and walls, her sculptures and paintings are crafted to serve as lifelong companions in the homes of collectors and bring years of enjoyment and reflection. The exhibition is on view in the West Gallery of the Silver Street Studios Building (Door #4 on the deck). Join the artist for a reception on December 7, from 5-8pm.
