Do You See What I Hear?

The artists of Spring Street Studios at Sawyer Yards are proud to present Do You See What I Hear?, a new exhibition on the Second Floor of Spring Street Studios. This stunning and diverse showcase is curated by Spring Street artist John Bellian (Studio #100), who writes:

"Inspiration comes from everything. Our visual senses are stimulated every moment of every day, but if you close your eyes you then rely on the sounds around you to give life direction purpose and meaning. A cacophony of sounds surrounds all of us every day; music, birds waking in a spring morning, claps of thunder, the wind rushing through the trees the delicate sound of a beating heart.

For me music has always been a tremendous influence in my life, from composing my own songs to just listening and drifting off in the dreams that help to guide your spirit through troubled times. Recently I have allowed music to be my muse and each piece is crafted within a special place in my mind where music and sound intersects with paint and canvas. There is a symbiotic relationship between the reality of the sounds and the emotional connection to the visual art that inspires serenity or fear or happiness or just leaves you with melancholy wanting.

Stop and listen. Focus on the images your mind creates from the sounds you hear. Then open your eyes, can you see what I hear?"

Do You See What I Hear? will be on view through June 14, 2025. Spring Street Studios is open to the public from 9:00 - 5:00pm Monday through Saturday.
